Amazing scenes! We’re excited to announce the long-awaited Girls Aloud’s classic second album, What Will The Neighbours Say? vinyl release, two decades after the album’s initial debut.
The journey to our design of this vinyl release began with hints from dedicated GA fans on Instagram, prompting us to reach out to Polydor. Expressing our eagerness to be part of this project, Polydor enthusiastically embraced the collaboration. Back in 2004, when we originally designed the album on CD, we always felt a vinyl format was the missing piece of the puzzle.
In a previous post, we delved into the singles art we crafted for Girls Aloud (check it out here). Now, let’s take a brief behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the What Will The Neighbours Say? vinyl format, available in blue-coloured vinyl and a limited edition picture disc.
This special album release allowed FormĀ® partner Paul West to revisit his scrapbook archive, unveiling original polaroids and outtakes from the WWTNS photoshoot sessions with photographers Simon Clemanger (The Show) and Pete Beavis (Love Machine, Wake Me Up, I’ll Stand By You, WWTNS?). These behind-the-scenes polaroids, added to the inner sleeve lyrics, provide a captivating snapshot of the songs and the album’s historical context.
These behind-the-scenes polaroids from notable and memorable photoshoots have been added to the inner sleeve lyrics and add a wonderful moment in time context to the songs and album.
Shown above is a a dummy-up version of the inner sleeve, always a great opportunity to print out, sellotape-up and get a feel for the actual size format.
Additionally, we share early stage visuals of the special 4-page lyric sheet and album cover, offering a glimpse into the design evolution.
Top left features an alternate design version with a Love Machine mini poster, eventually replaced by a selection of original album cover visual alternatives.
